Introduction to Knockout Home Fitness game

A simple guide for home fitness enthusiasts

I’ve had this game for a while and used it many times over the past 5 months. I’ve gotten a lot of value from it. If you think video games couldn’t possibly help you reach exercise goals, consider this game. Playing Knockout Home Fitness on the Nintendo Switch will raise your heart rate and feel like exercise.

What Knockout Home Fitness is

This game is considered a boxing-style workout app, but viewed on a Nintendo Switch game console rather than a computer. Once a workout begins, you follow it like a workout DVD or a yoga show on TV.

Watch me in action below. But first, learn a bit more about this workout game.

How it helps your exercise journey

Knockout has several benefits that help it stay in mind for when you need to exercise.

Why I like it

  • It’s easy to use (if you already have your Switch ready) – just like starting a DVD or any video game
  • Since it runs on the Nintendo Switch, you can watch it on TV or in mobile form, sitting on a table
  • The workouts are fairly short, and you can string them together to create a longer workout
  • New workouts open regularly without a huge wait time
  • The ‘trainer’ mode works well – the workouts get more challenging
  • My heart rate rises
  • It keeps exercise stats and has a nice starting screen that’s a calendar; it all keeps me motivated

I often workout with Knockout more than once a day, for about 20 minutes at a time. I can’t say that about some other exercise modalities.

My wishlist for this game

  • Better stretching sequences, and much longer for after one’s workout
  • The ‘stretching’ before a workout should really be dynamic movement that warms up the muscles, according to modern training philosophy in my country Canada
  • Cool-down exercises to slow down heart rate and reduce injury
  • Ability to play warmup and cooldown sessions any time, with or without cardio session
  • Better music – more adult and exciting
  • Comment below if you prefer the current music – I simply think the current tunes are repetitive, cartoon-like, and limited in notes

  • Hi Heidi, I really enjoyed your blog. Yeah I think you’re right about the music. It needs a major update but I think it would be good for kids to get them more interested I think what the game really needs is you choose your music so adults has more adult music And the kids music can be what they’re using now
