Should I Take Down My Ninja Line for the Winter?

I’ve been telling myself I’m going to take down the obstacle course in the yard before the rainy season hits. But a few weekends, I went out there to finally do it, and then something funny happened. I started playing with it instead.

Five minutes of “testing the ropes” turned into a full session of foot bag, pull-ups, and balance drills. I’ve continued in the recent days despite heavy rains on some days and I am having fun again.

So now I’m wondering: should I even take it down at all?

My neighbors leave their Ninjaline/slack line up year-round, and it still looks strong after a couple of years. I don’t think they’ve replaced or taken it down, ever. The red webbing in some areas is clearly not faded nor disintegrating. Webbing is webbing, right? Maybe the accessories age faster in the weather, but that’s something I can replace next year if I have to.

Unexpected motivation

It’s strange how motivation can sneak up on you — I went outside ready to quit, and ended up training instead. Maybe that’s the real lesson here. No need for planning, just show up and let yourself get caught up in the moment. It’s about joy. Make room for it.

If you’ve owned a slackline or a Ninja Line before, I’d love to know: Did you leave yours up through the rain? How did it hold up?

Until I decide for sure, I’ll keep swinging and climbing on mine, and keeping up with footbag exercise. I’m slowly improving in both activities. I think the best workouts happen when you stop overthinking and just go outside.
