Exercise Memories of September 2025

Basically, I forgot to post this when it was current – about a particularly fun day and my fitness progress during job action at my workplace.

On September 26, 2025, I got at least an hour of walking exercise while picketing. This I walked around the building where I work, along with maybe a few hundred others at the same time. We all walked and talked for four hours total. My estimate is 1 hour of total exercise equivalent on this day because it was a brisk and active pace.

I heard lots of career advice from more experienced workers on the picket line. Advice I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise (note I work from home).

Then I had a nice dinner out at The Tapa Bar in downtown Victoria. It’s one of my favourite food spots that offers plenty of gluten free choices, suitable for celiac disease.

Afterwards I walked to the other end of Trounce Alley and escaped down the stairs to Quazar’s Arcade. I met some people playing Dance Dance Revolution (bit of history about DDR). I’ve watched players many times but never thought I could figure out the dance moves myself.

One took me to the machine when it freed up and taught me how the game works. I don’t think I could’ve figured that one out myself. It’s a little intimidating. It sounded expensive at first, but it turns out you get to dance three songs, alongside the other player.

Amazingly it allows one play to select beginner level and the other can play more advanced. They might be playing a completely different set of moves to make it more difficult. That means in future, I can join in with any player that’s willing to pair up. No wonder that machine is always so busy – it still stands as a highlight of my post-summer activities.
