How I exercised over 150 min/week #5: casual activity

I enjoyed a mix of walking and cardio sports this week

In the past 7 days, I reached 210 minutes of exercise.

Since the weather got consistently better where I live, it’s much easier to grab-and-go for cardio. Think jogging, biking, basketball.

In reverse chronological order:

Monday (yesterday): 50 min

  • 20 minutes baseball batting practice
  • 30 minutes basketball practice

Last Sunday: 40 min

  • 20 minutes baskeball drills on way to a movie
  • 20 minutes walking (2 x 10 minute country walk)

Saturday: 30 min

  • 30 minutes walking for shopping errands – 7 minutes one way, several times

Friday: 30 min

  • 30 minutes walking with a friend to get pizza for movie night

Earlier: 50 min

  • Two 10-minute footbag and obstacle course workouts
  • One 30-minute gardening session
  • Several short yoga sections to reduce pain

Future includes weight training

Notice I haven’t added resistance training to my schedule yet. Instead, I still want to prioritize enjoyment of exercise.

I do certain exercises (just a few) daily for loosening up and increasing flexibility around my surgery areas. I do those right before bed, and a few yoga stretches usually before work.

I have a small space to workout with hand weights and with hot weather now, my intense workouts are limited to evenings and outdoors, whether it’s basketball or jogging or biking or weights.

Just sayin’

It’s okay to be flexible with your workout goals. Set a goal you’ll actually do!
